On Tuesday Nov. 29th, 2011 in an abhorrent violation of its own commitment to the Vienna Convention and international protocols governing the protection and immunity of diplomatic missions, elements directly associated with the clerical regime of Iran attacked, occupied and vandalized the British embassy and residential compound of its diplomats in Tehran.
This line of behavior and reckless action further tarnishes the image of Iran, undermining the credibility of all its citizens the world over.
It is quite apparent that the true intent of the clerical regime is to divert international and domestic public opinion away from its myriad of socio-economic and political failures – including broad and systematic violation of human rights – by pursuing divisive policies and adventurism which continue to drag Iran to a dangerous point of no return.
I strongly condemn this inhuman and unlawful behavior which has no consequence other than the further endangerment of Iran’s national interest and security.
The international community should recognize and make the distinction between the clerical regime, which propagates and condones such militant acts, and a proud citizenry by transparently siding with the Iranian people’s long-standing and rightful quest for freedom and democracy.
I, once again, reiterate that the inalienable destiny of the Iranian people will come not through foreign military intervention, but at the hands of the Iranian people with transparent solidarity and support from the international community.
May God bless Iran,
Reza Pahlavi
