Yesterday, as my wife Yasmine and I were driving to our daughter Farah’s school to watch her 3rd grade class play, we heard the horrific and shocking news of the shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut.
As we watched our eight year old daughter and her classmates laugh and play on stage, the impact of the horrific violence against innocent children hit us hard. Later we heard that many parents had to wait for hours, only to finally find out that the bodies of their children were laying lifeless on the cold floor of the school, that their precious children would never be coming back to them.
So many hopes and dreams vanished in seconds at the hands of a murderous psychopath; so many lives were instantly shattered; and the resulting trauma will never vanish.
Yasmine and I offer our deepest condolences to the grieving parents, and families of the fallen teachers. We pray for them, and for the souls of these pure and defenseless children.
May they forever rest in peace.
