Awarding of this year’s Noble Peace Prize to an Iranian woman is not only an honored recognition of our national resilience, but a grand step toward the recognition of the Iranian women and their significant contributions to our nation and the international community.
Shirin Ebadi has demonstrated to the world that despite the beliefs and efforts of those who impose obstacles against our society, especially against our women, the Iranian woman has proven her resilience by overcoming all hurdles at every level and at every position.
At this critical juncture whence our homeland, heritage and honor is being violated by a regime of ill-repute, the efforts and achievements of Ms. Ebadi, whether it be as a human rights activist, a university professor or her judicial and legal expertise, are a striking testimony to the valiant resistance and rightful aspirations of the people of Iran and their demand for human rights and a better life. This aspiration has now found an international audience dimension. And this prize is nothing but the recognition of the voice of freedom in Iran.
My heartfelt congratulation goes to Ms. Ebadi for this great achievement.
I am certain that freedom and justice is on its way to our homeland, because of the courageous and untiring efforts of the freedom loving women of Iran today.
